Mary Anna Evans holds a PhD in English and an MFA in creative writing, both of which came in particularly handy while writing the story of The Dark Library’s books and troubled professors. She is also the author of the Justine Byrne Historical Mysteries and the Faye Longchamp Archaeological Mysteries, which have received awards, including the Oklahoma Book Award, the Benjamin Franklin Award, the Mississippi Book Award, three Florida Book Awards Bronze Medals, and a Will Rogers Medallion Awards Gold Medal. Her essays on science and the environment have appeared in publications including The Atlantic’s Technology Channel, EarthLines, and Flyway. She is a professor at the University of Oklahoma, where she teaches fiction and nonfiction writing, and her scholarly interests center on Agatha Christie’s depiction of justice and gender. She is the co-editor of the Bloomsbury Handbook to Agatha Christie, which was an Edgar® Award nominee, an Agatha Award finalist, a Macavity Award nominee, and an HRF Keating Award finalist.
